It is believed that the rock mountain makes mysterious sound of Geomungo (Korean musical instrument with six strings) and this sound is Sinseon (Taoist hermits) calling Seonnyeo (Taoist fairy). The rock mountain was bombed for aggregates that was required to build Sokcho Harbor during Japan's occupation period. However, a pavilion is replacing the rock mountain site for people who want to listen to that mysterious sound. Even though that mysterious sound is gone, breezes coming from East Sea are attracting many tourists. Pieces of old Yeonggeumjeong puzzles are found around water breakers.
